Nobody was found in a vehicle that crashed into a pond near Cheyenne Avenue and Commerce Street Monday morning, North Las Vegas police said.
Police discovered a Toyota Corolla submerged in a pond at City View Park, after responding to an anonymous phone call about 6 a.m.
The vehicle drove through a chain link fence on Cheyenne and took out a large tree branch before going airborne and landing in the pond — approximately 120 feet from the street, according to a park maintenance worker.
Police recovered the vehicle and found a plastic bag containing a green plant substance in its trunk.
Park maintenance workers are draining the pond to search the bottom and drain off contaminated water.
